Position Overview:

We are currently seeking a Qualified Heavy Vehicle Mechanic with HVAC experience/Auto Electrician join our team.

This position will be based at Olympic Dam on a casual DIDO basis, 12-hour shifts & working on a 2:2 even time roster.

The successful candidate will play a vital role in diagnosing, troubleshooting, and repairing electrical issues in heavy machinery and vehicles, including air-conditioning systems. Primary Responsibilities:

  • Diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical issues in heavy machinery and vehicles.
  • Utilise diagnostic tools and techniques to identify issues with diesel engines, transmissions, brakes, and other vehicle components.
  • Performing routine preventive maintenance to ensure the reliability and safety of electrical systems.
  • Perform routine maintenance tasks, such as oil changes, filter replacements, and brake adjustments, as well as major repairs, including engine overhauls and transmission rebuilds.
  • Troubleshoot and repair electrical systems, including wiring, starters, alternators, and lighting.
  • Inspect, repair, and calibrate fuel injection systems, pumps, and injectors.
  • Maintain and repair hydraulic systems commonly found in diesel-powered equipment.
  • Reading and interpreting electrical schematics and diagrams for repairs.
  • Analysing equipment data to optimize performance and efficiency.
  • Maintaining comprehensive documentation of all maintenance and repair work.
  • Collaborating with team members and sharing expertise in electrical systems.
  • Air-conditioning repairs, overhaul, and maintenance.


Key requirements:

All candidates must have a strong commitment to safety, a customer-focused mindset, and a proven track record in auto electrical work on heavy plant and equipment, including diagnostics, maintenance, troubleshooting, and air-conditioning systems.

To be considered for this role, candidates must possess:

  • Relevant trade qualifications as an auto electrician/HV Mechanic
  • Current HR driver’s license.
  • Ability to pass a full pre-employment medical including drug and alcohol testing.
  • A strong commitment to safety.
  • Self-motivation and a proactive approach.
  • HVAC/Air-conditioning license.
  • White Card (Construction Induction Card).
